A Goan Tale!

Intuitively she designs, disregarding the need to stay between the lines. Miriam Strehlau, a descendant of Freiburg, Germany blows life into her Zeitgeist creations making ever piece a “must-have”.  Miriam  runs a quaint boutique at Anjuna, Goa where she now resides. Seeking inspiration from her exciting beach life, this talented designer made her debut at the Lakme Fahion Week S/S 2011 in the Gennext category.

When Geek Met Chic unmasks the face behind these quirky creations.

Miriam's Anjuna Boutique

Miriam Strehlau
Why Goa of all Indian cities?
An inner calling ever since I was a teenager, guided me to Goa, after which everything fell into place...

One thing you dig and a thing that stinks with regards to designing.
To be able to create everyday, activating the right part of my brain and using my hands is what I dig. However, the consumption and pollution created by temporary and ever changing fashion, the use of pesticides and poisonous colors for textiles results in a big environmental disaster.

Tell us something absolutely and totally random about yourself?
I love to dance and be out in nature.

In the ocean of designers, what sets your designs apart?
I have my own handwriting. Fashion is my medium of expression.

What would you do with a million dollars?
A garbage solution and renewable energy project for Goa.

Your advice to newbies……?
Design can change the world.

What’s in your closet? Bikini / tankini / monokini
Mosquitoes!

Your motto in life?
Here and Now.

We’re huge fans of Miriam's creations and we absolutely dig her cropped blazers/jackets. Want to own her creation? You can browse and place an order on her Facebook page here.
