“Fashions Fade, Style is Eternal” conjured the legendary Yves Saint Laurent. The truth that lies behind this quote is inexplicable! You’d think that fashion is predictable to a certain extent, a plethora of runway shows season after season, highlighting trends which in few months are bound to change. Every season brings with it a new trend or perhaps brings back to life an older one. With open arms we embraced the 70’s, making way for wide legged trousers, donned chic ballerina buns, sported wayfarers in rainbow colors. They say ‘Change is the only thing that is constant’ and to this fashion is no stranger. But the trend, whether new or old, we embrace it, celebrate it and for that period it become our soul mate. (Except clogs, I hated them and still do).
Amidst all of fashion's mood swings, lives our style. It sets you apart, liberating you. Dares you to experiment, to find your own voice. It is not confined solely to fashion. Style is synonymous with everything you do… your skill, knowledge, attitude…. It’s a peculiar touch that gives you your identity, It makes you YOU.
Fashion, labels, trends don’t validate you, who “you” are does!! So why copy others?
Here’s to discovering our own true style and celebrating fashion forward times!

The woman who usually follows the crowd, will usually go no further than the crowd. The woman who walks alone is likely to find herself in places, no one has ever been before.

ReplyDeleteGreat post, I really agree with all you said. Style is such a personal element of life, as opposed to what we see on the runways that are too high for most to reach.
ReplyDeleteStop by some time!

ReplyDeletevery well said. we may all start with a crowd at the beginning, but only knowing who YOU are and where you want to be will not get you lost in the crowds.

I think that fashion is slowly becoming style. Disposable fashion has become the norm, and people are forgetting to be different, amalgamating into one person. There is more variety on the high street- but this means we are more likely to throw away things, and get the newer version, and not to mould our wardrobes into our style.
ReplyDeletePeople are experimenting less and less and media coverage of '10 most stlish' or 'how to copy ___'s style' is increasing more, as advertising platforms increase. Trying to change us- and making us forget what makes us US!
Brilliant post!
